My father, a pensioner (aged 78), has moved into our house on a permanent basis (until death do us part). Is it neccesary from him to arrange a separate “House contents” policy with an insurer for his furniture and personal belongings now permanently under our roof, or does his property now automaticly froms part of our house contents and are it automaticly insured under our policy.
Your fathers furniture and belongings can be insured under your policy but you would need to increase the value of your total household contents covered by your policy. If you undervalue your household contents, you would carry a part of the risk in proportion to amount that you undervalued your household items. I.e. If the actual value of your household contents is R200 000 and you have cover for R100 000 (50% of the value), MiWay will cover 50% of your loss.
MiWay’s Home Insurance products include Home Contents Insurance, structural Buildings Insurance and All Risk Insurance for your movable bits.
