What is the difference between theft/hijack cover and additional theft cover? Also why is it compulsory to take the R25k accident benefit. Can you please explain.
The additional theft cover will be an option to select should there be a security requirement e.g. to fit an anti-hijack or immobiliser to the vehicle. Therefore Theft and Hijack cover is conditional upon the installation or approval of a specific security system being in place in the vehicle. If for some or other reason you do not want to install the device we are prepared to take the risk at a higher premium… hence the additional theft cover at an additional premium. The additional theft cover is however not available should a tracking device be required on the vehicle. Therefore both covers provide theft cover… one will just come at a higher price if the vehicle does not have the required security in place.
The R25k accident benefit should be regarded as a product feature rather than a compulsory benefit. While developing the product we decided to include it in the product for all policy holders thus allowing us to do it very cheaply.
