How to Enjoy Spring During Lockdown

Think about all the things that make spring special: picnics, nature walks and hikes. We don’t know about you, but we can almost feel the spring air and looking forward these activities At any other time in history, taking part in these common spring activities wouldn't be much of a problem, but we're living in unprecedented times.

Yeah sure, we're no longer living under hard lockdown, but there are still a few restrictions that we have to keep following - like social distancing and self-isolation. So, what's one to do for fun? Here are 5 ways to enjoy spring under lockdown:

  • Start a Flower Garden
Spring is commonly referred to as the season of new beginnings, so why not breathe life into your backyard by planting a few flowers? This is one of the best ways to capitalise on spring's warm weather. Flower gardens are an inexpensive way to brighten up your living space. It's so cheap that it's practically free. All you need are a few seeds, soil, water and some patience. And when spring comes again the following year, you'll remember that it all started on the day you decided to plant a handful of seeds into the ground.
  • Go for a Swim
You don't have to visit your local swimming pool or go to the beach for a dip. If you have a spacious backyard, you can buy an inflatable pool or a “slip and slide”. Then, weather permitting, you can set aside a day (or even a week) to cool down in your backyard water park.
  • Go Camping
If you're not comfortable with the idea of going to a nature reserve or camping ground, pitch a tent in your backyard. If you have kids, it could be a fun family activity. You could even cook your meals outside and tell stories around a campfire. Just be sure to keep a close eye on the fire to prevent any accidents.
  • Host your Own "Film Festival"
A movie marathon is a great way to plant yourself into completely different worlds. While some people think of movie theatres when they imagine having a cinematic experience, you don't have to leave the house to have a huge movie night. Choose a theme for each day or night (such as comedy or romance) and make sure you have enough popcorn. No movie tickets required — admission is free!
  • Do an Outdoor Workout
Sunshine spills into every inch of your yard in spring. It would be an awful shame to let that beautiful weather go to waste — lockdown or no lockdown. Make the most of it by working up a sweat from the comfort of your backyard. Set aside a day or week for specific exercises: cardio, toning, lifting — whatever tickles your fancy. There's no need to leave your house to burn a few calories. It can all be done at home. And it's free, which means more money in your pocket.

If the times we're living in have taught us anything, it's that life throws you curveballs when you least expect it. While no one can really prepare for a pandemic, you can prepare for other unforeseen circumstances.
