Insurance No-Brainers Everyone Should Know

Grab your calendar and have a look at the 27th of February. No one would blame you for not thinking much of the date. In fact, to most people, it's just going to be another Thursday. But for those in the know, it's a day to put their feet up and give their brains a rest.

The goal of International No-Brainer Day is simple: it’s to remind people that overanalysing is just as bad as underthinking. You may not realise it, but many of the problems we encounter have simple and obvious solutions. Don't get us wrong: it's never a bad idea to think things through. The problem comes when you get so lost in analysing a situation that it brings the pace of your life to a crawl.

With No-Brainer Day just around the corner, we've decided to take the thinking out of something almost every adult needs: insurance. Here are a few tips to remember when you're looking for comprehensive car insurance or home insurance.

Find a Reputable Insurance Company

This one should go without saying. Find an insurance company that goes out of its way to treat its clients fairly and honestly. Do your research – are claims handled quickly and efficiently? Your insurer should treat clients fairly and honestly – and, importantly, be transparent.

Strike a Balance Between Savings and Security

Have you ever heard the saying, "You get what you pay for"? A lower premium can mean coverage that isn’t comprehensive, and may mean that you will have to fork out a steep excess in the event of a claim. Everyone wants to have a bit of extra cash in their account, but don’t shoot yourself in the foot!

Review Your Coverage

Here's another one that should go without saying – an insurance company isn't liable to pay out all claims. That's the type of information you should know long before you make a claim. Let's use car insurance as an example: If you disobey traffic rules, drive an unroadworthy vehicle or do not park your car in a secure spot, your insurer could reject your claim.

Don't let overthinking get in the way of something as crucial as your car insurance. Let us do the thinking so you can focus on something that requires a bit of thought: figuring out how to live your way.
