1. Begin by getting hold of your insurance policy schedule (with Miway, this will be either via the App, online, or by giving us a call on 0860 64 64 64).
2. Then ask yourself the following key questions:
- Are all your added extras covered? If you’ve added a tow bar to your car, or gotten your windows tinted, remember to update this on your policy. This may either save you cash (you would otherwise have to pay for the replacement of these extras out of your own pocket) or save you the hassle of an unpaid claim at claims stage.
- Is your home covered for its full rebuilding cost? If you have made major improvements to your home, such as adding a new room or redoing your kitchen, you need to increase the amount your house is insured for too. Your house should be insured at its replacement value – what it will cost you, at the time of a claim, to replace – or repair the building (your home) with a similar, new structure.
- Are your belongings adequately insured? Over the course of the past year, the contents of your home have probably changed. You may have bought a brand new camera, upgraded your TV, or sold your set of waterless cookware - all of which means you will have needed to adjust the contents of your home contents insurance cover. 3. If you do find that you need to make a couple of changes, let your insurer know! Remember that with Miway, you can either do it yourself online – or give us a call!
In a nutshell, spring clean your insurance - update what you need and eliminate what you don’t. We know it’s a bit of a schlep, but it’s worth it – you DON’T want to find yourself underinsured.
PS. In case you haven’t already heard, we give you up to 25% off your home contents premium if you insure both your car and your home contents under one policy. To find out more, either give us a call, or click here to read more.
