Don’t let the festive season affect your cover

Often, we make the mistake of cutting corners where we shouldn’t to cover other areas we think are more important at the time. And when the festive times are upon us, the temptation gets higher. Unfortunately, not paying your insurance premium can have an adverse effect on you and your family during this festive season, and beyond.

Festive periods, in general are higher risk periods as there are more people on the road and more households left unattended. Before you start cutting the wrong costs to cover some ad-hoc festive essentials, consider these points:

• Neglecting to pay your insurance premium could leave you without cover and negatively affect your insurance history. Remember that, even if you apply for insurance with another provider, your history will be considered, and even one missed month may have an impact.
• Missing your premium payment means you may not be covered for accidents, scrapes or incidents occurring during that time. The last thing you want this festive season and going into January (or any other high-risk period with the high accident risks) is to find yourself in a tricky situation without cover.

Cutting costs to manage your current financial festive needs may be a good idea on paper; but cutting costs in the wrong areas could have a longer lasting impact than you budgeted for.
