We caught up with her and this is what she had to say about her role in making Miway a world class company.
I represent the Training & Development department. My dual role as the Training Team Leader and Client Services Facilitator has made me realise the importance of continuously gaining knowledge/expertise in one’s career path and keeping up-to-date with company and industry trends. One can never say they have enough experience and knowledge and cease to learn. Learning keeps one relevant in their work career and makes me one resourceful facilitator.
Facilitation is not about standing in front of the class and thinking you know better than your learners. I learn as much from the learners as they learn from me. Facilitation is a collaboration between the facilitator and the learners. One has to keep a balance between being a good listener/observer and a good speaker.
A learner who is well-trained and competent will be confident in assisting our clients, since they will be equipped with the necessary skills. The learners will naturally settle into working in a live environment and more likely to succeed in their work career. A competent and skilled workforce is the heart of the business success.
I have discovered that there aren’t enough hours in the day for some of my many roles – a wife, mother, (a working mom at that) and a student. Striking a balance between work and life activities comes with a bit of sacrifice and compromise. I did have to sacrifice going to the gym/exercising as often as I used to - but I also get good support from my husband. I’m a Christian, and a verse from the Bible confirms this: “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Samantha Govender and Faith Nyayi - these two women are so passionate about developing people and the Learning and Development Industry as a whole. Being under their leadership has expanded my outlook on the learning and development industry. I admire their professionalism and strong work ethic which is aimed at changing the perception that training is an expense rather than an integral part of the business.
Takatso is part of the team that gets our Miwayans ready to serve you – with confidence and knowledge.
