4 tips to tackle roadside emergencies

Staying calm in the event of your car breaking down in the middle of your journey is not the easiest of things to do. Roadside emergencies can be frightening and in some cases life-threatening. No matter what your situation, your main aim should be getting help and out of that predicament as safely and quickly as possible. This is where Roadside Emergency Assistance comes in.

1. Keep emergency contacts at hand. Keep your insurer’s emergency number, as well as a trusted friend or family member’s number handy. Your insurer’s emergency assistance number will most likely be found on your “Do not tow” sticker.
2. Be aware of your environment. Stay vigilant at all times and be aware of your environment. This won’t only add to you staying safe, it will also help your insurer to get to you quicker.
3. Try to remain as calm as possible. We know it’s not easy! Try remain as calm as possible so that you can think clearly and find a solution to your problem.
4. Make sure your “Do not tow” sticker is visible on your car. This needs to be clearly visible to ensure that your vehicle is towed by an approved service provider. This way, you may also able to avoid unnecessary additional costs and stress.

• Towing - should there be a need, we will organise for your vehicle to be towed to the nearest approved service provider (and safe storage, if necessary).
• Flat tyre assistance - should you find yourself with a flat tyre, help will be sent your way to help you change your tyre and get back on the road again.
• Jump starting - sometimes your battery will need a little kick-start to get going again. We will send out service providers to assist with jump starting your battery where possible.
• Locksmith - locking keys in the car or misplacing them is not a foreign concept when on holiday. If you find yourself in this situation, have no worry, we’ll have a locksmith on their way to assist you.
• Emergency fuel assistance - if you run out of fuel in the middle of your journey, we will assist you.
• Accommodation - should you find yourself stranded more than 100kms from home, we will arrange alternative accommodation for you.
